Meet Shawn Coetzee
Shawn Coetzee is the Managing Director and founder of the management consultancy company, SC Management and Advisory Solutions (Pty) Ltd. He is the former Chief Executive Officer of SAPO Trust, a company with an international client base supplying plant improvement-, plant propagation-, variety development and intellectual property management services to the South African (SA) deciduous fruit industry. He is the former Chairperson of the Stellenbosch University Business School (SBS) Alumni Association Western Cape Chapter.
He has a passion for developing authentic leaders on a personal-, organizational- and societal level and is an active proponent of values-based leadership alongside the principles of servant leadership. Subsequently, he has excelled in all leadership development programmes completed to date and received the Directors Award for Academic Excellence on SBS-ED’s flagship Executive Development programme, complimented by his MBA research thesis on the successful transition of senior- and executive leaders through the construct of leadership coaching within a culturally diverse context.
Shawn’s passion for societal transformation is complimented by his postgraduate qualification in Theology and Missional Leadership with his research focussing on the interrelation between Christology and servant leadership. He is currently a M.Th. student at Stellenbosch University in his quest to meaningfully impact the lives of communities, to ignite the potential of the youth, and to transforming worldviews amidst a volatile, uncertain, complex and an ambiguous secular world.
He is a Licensee of the Leadership Management International INC. (LMI) and is a highly experienced Turnaround Specialist and a Strategic Thinker. His senior management- and executive management experience extends over 20 years where he has led groundbreaking projects and business development initiatives in the Agri-industry. He is an Associate and EXCO member of First Business Wellness NPC, a multi-disciplined professional association dedicated to develop the competitive capacities of SME’s/ SMME’s, with his area of specialization being “People and Culture”.
Shawn is the former Chairperson of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Section and has chaired meetings at the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).
He is an experienced international speaker and has led international peer reviews, benchmarking projects and exchange programmes with other countries. He is a Member of the Institute of Directors of South Africa (IoDSA), an Executive Coach and a member of the Coaches and Mentors Association of South Africa (COMENSA). He has an undergraduate qualification in Food Science and Technology and holds a Master’s Degree in Business Management and Administration (MBA) graduating from Stellenbosch University. He is a Non-Executive Director of Legal Aid South Africa where he serves as Risk Committee member and Deputy Chairperson of the Remuneration Social and Ethics Committee, also functioning as the Human Resources Committee.
